Mandy's Tuition: English GCSE

Course Information & Key Terms

Please read this information carefully before booking a course. These terms explain how Mandy's Tuition: English GCSE courses operate and should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

Amendments

We reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions where necessary. Any significant changes will be communicated to parents in advance.

Who the Courses Are For

Courses are designed for GCSE English Language and Literature students.

Bookings for students under 18 must be made by a parent or legal guardian.

Fees and Subscription

The Group Tuition Programme operates on a monthly subscription basis. The monthly fee is £112.00 and includes all scheduled classes during the month, together with learning resources, homework, personalised feedback, and ongoing academic support.

Students joining mid-month will be charged £28.00 for each remaining class in that month's programme. For example, if two classes remain, the fee will be £56.00. The student will then move onto the standard monthly subscription of £112.00.

The monthly subscription includes:

Access to all scheduled group classes

Class notes and learning resources

Personalised feedback for students and parents

Progress monitoring and assessments (where applicable)

Written reports following assessments

Additional exam preparation sessions for relevant year groups, where offered

Automatic Renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically each month to ensure continuity of tuition and to reserve your child's place in the group.

A reminder email will be sent during the third week of each month before the next payment is processed.

Failed Payments

If a subscription payment fails, the payment system will automatically attempt to collect the payment up to three additional times over the following days.

Where payment remains outstanding, access to classes, resources and notes may be suspended until payment has been received. Payment failing month after month may result in the student's place being withdrawn and offered to another student on the waiting list.

Cancellation and Refunds

Under UK consumer law, customers have a 14-day cooling-off period when purchasing a course online. This period begins the day after the contract is entered into.

If a course has not yet started, a full refund will be provided if cancellation is requested within the cooling-off period.

Where a course begins within the 14-day cooling-off period, you expressly request and acknowledge that teaching begins before the cooling-off period has ended. If cancellation is requested after teaching has started, you agree that any refund will be calculated on a pro-rata basis to reflect the value of the sessions already delivered. Once a course has been fully completed within this period, you lose your right to cancel and no refund will be available.

When cancelling a recurring subscription, parents/guardians must cancel at least 24 hours in advance of the renewal date to avoid charges for the upcoming cycle. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before renewal will take effect from the subsequent billing period, and no partial refunds will be given for the current cycle.

Attendance and Absences

All our tutoring sessions are delivered as live, scheduled group classes. Because your booking secures a fixed place within a specific group cohort, individual sessions missed due to student absence cannot be refunded, credited, or rescheduled.

The group class will proceed at the scheduled time regardless of individual attendance. Our fees cover the ongoing operational cost of the group, lesson material planning, and the tutor's fixed live-teaching time, which remains unchanged by an individual student's absence.

If a student is unable to attend a session due to illness or personal scheduling conflicts, where possible, please notify us as a courtesy 24 hours before the session. While we cannot offer a replacement live class, we will provide the student with any downloadable learning materials or resources distributed during that missed session to ensure they do not fall behind.

Students will continue to have access to the lesson resources and materials to support independent catch-up.

Students are encouraged to attend all scheduled classes. 

Questions relating to missed work may be submitted via email or through the business contact page.

Students need to be logged on in time for classes. Late arrivals can be disruptive.

Students and parents must not make audio recordings, video recordings, screenshots, screen recordings or photographs of live lessons without prior written permission. Any unauthorised recording or sharing of lessons may result in removal from the course without refund.

The course has been carefully designed as a complete programme of study. While students can join after the course has started, they are likely to make the most progress when they attend all sessions and fully engage with the lessons, resources and homework activities.

Group Sizes

Group classes are designed to provide a collaborative and engaging learning environment. It is a maximum of 8 students a session.

A minimum of two students is required for a class to be delivered at the advertised group rate. Where enrolment falls below this number, alternative arrangements may be offered, including one-to-one tuition at the applicable individual rate.

One-to-one lessons are charged at £50 per 60-minute session

In exceptional circumstances, where a group contains fewer students than originally anticipated, fees may be adjusted to reflect the smaller class size. Parents will always be notified in advance if this applies.

Online Lessons and Access to Learning Materials

Parents are responsible for ensuring that students have access to a suitable sevice and a reliable internet connection for the duration of each lesson.

 To participate fully in lessons and complete class activities, students should join classes using a laptop or desktop computer wherever possible. Some exercises require access to shared online documents and may not function effectively on mobile devices or tablets.

Students accessing lessons on a mobile device or tablet may need to download the Zoom application in advance.

 Lessons are delivered via Zoom and run weekly for approximately one hour at the scheduled class time. Students will receive access to their online classroom and learning materials once their place has been confirmed and payment has been received.

 Class notes, resources and homework materials are stored in a shared online folder that is accessible only to enrolled students and the tutor. Access to these materials is provided solely for the student's personal educational use and must not be shared, copied, distributed or made available to any third party.

 Students will require a Gmail account in order to access shared learning resources and should ensure that all required applications and documents are open and ready before the lesson begins.

Course Materials

All teaching materials, worksheets, assessments, presentations and resources remain the intellectual property of Mandy's Tuition: English GCSE.

Materials are provided for personal educational use only and may not be copied, shared, sold or distributed without written permission.

We take great care to ensure that all notes, learning materials, and resources provided through our programmes are accurate, current, and of a high standard. However, occasional errors, omissions, or inaccuracies may occur.

While every effort is made to provide reliable educational content, students and parents should not rely solely on these materials and are encouraged to seek clarification where needed. If you identify any errors or discrepancies, please let us know so that we can review and correct them as appropriate.

 We accept no liability for any loss or inconvenience arising from reliance on information contained within our notes, materials, or resources.

Student Conduct

Students are expected to behave respectfully towards the tutor and other students.

Mandy's Tuition reserves the right to remove a student from a course where behaviour is disruptive, abusive, threatening or inappropriate. Refunds will not normally be provided in these circumstances.

Academic Outcomes

Every effort is made to support students in improving their confidence, knowledge and examination performance.

However, no guarantee can be given regarding specific grades, examination results or academic outcomes.

Course Changes

In the rare event that Mandy’s Tuition: English GCSE must cancel a session due to illness or unforeseen technical emergencies, parents will be notified as early as possible. In these circumstances, either a rescheduled group session at a mutually convenient time or provide a pro-rata credit/refund for that specific cancelled lesson will be arranged.

Safeguarding, Privacy, and Professional Boundaries

To protect the privacy and safety of all minors in the group, live tutoring sessions are not recorded.

All communications regarding scheduling, progress, or feedback must be directed to the parent/guardian’s registered contact details, not to the student directly.

While student data and lesson discussions are confidential, confidentiality will be immediately breached if a student discloses information that suggests they or another minor are at risk of significant harm. In such cases, Mandy’s Tuition: English GCSE is legally obligated to report the matter to relevant UK authorities

By agreeing to these terms, you acknowledge that you remain responsible for your child's physical safety, internet setup, and supervision at home during live classes.
